How to choose a good LED lighting for growing houseplants and for green walls / vertical gardens?

The color of the light

Most of the LED lighting designed to illuminate plants has a red-blue afterglow. It is not accidental, since this type of color is actually beneficial for plants, but this color is not suitable for people. The human eye suffers from this type of light, so installing, for example, in a lounge reception or hotel lobby is not an option.

Solution:

The Verticana® system has a balanced spectrum, with a light length (red-blue) beneficial for plants, balanced with white light in such proportions that does not tire human eyes. It is a compromise between what plants need and what people prefer.

Aesthetic appearance of lighting system

For most users illuminating ornamental plants, the aesthetic appearance is one of the most important aspects. Most of the high-power lighting has a highly industrial appearance and is not suitable for hanging - e.g. in the reception, lounge or hotel lobby.

Solution:

The Verticana® system is a rail system with a minimalistic appearance that does not disturb the interior design of the entire room. Additionally, the system is available in 2 colors: black and white.

Illumination area and distance from the light source to the plant

Generally, when it is necessary to illuminate a high green wall or several potted plants away from each other, an issue arises with the selection of lighting.

Each light source emits light in a certain way: the intensity of the light reaching the plant and the area it illuminates is determined by the angle of the light bulb + its power.

If you want to illuminate a wall with a height of 5 meters from one place, it is not possible to use a bulb of the same power and beam angle.

Solution:

Verticana® bulbs come in 4 different variants, which allows you to freely illuminate objects located between 1 and 5 meters from the lighting strip.

The 15 ° lens can illuminate objects at a distance of up to 5 m

The 25 ° lens can illuminate objects at a distance of up to 3.5 m

The 45 ° lens can illuminate objects at a distance of up to 2m

The 80 ° lens can illuminate objects at a distance of up to 1m

Each Verticana® bulb has been configured to illuminate 2m ^ 2 (as long as the suggested distance listed above is adhered)

4. The quality of the produced light

Assessing the quality of light in particular products is not a simple task, especially for someone with little experience in this field.

In general, we can specify the following aspects that affect the quality of the light produced:

-The spectrum of light (differently selected lengths of lights)

-The power of a single diode (the amount of energy consumed by lighting)

-Efficiency (i.e. how much light is produced, for example, using one watt (W)

There is a lot of lighting on the market with absurd parameters or with parameters not specified by the seller at all. This should raise a suspicion of the customer choosing the lighting.

Beware of any type of panel that has a very large number of weak LEDs or panels that do not have the exact light lengths used.

The appropriate design of lighting for plants requires knowledge and experience, not every panel advertised as for plants will be effective.
